I'm not sure what everybody else' expectation is, but to mine it did not do the job. Its unfortunate, a sham and a rip-off the producers call it a flood light. Some of the other options used AA batteries. In 2 weeks, we're getting three more of these lights (along with a battery supply). This little light is motion-sensitive indoor and outdoor.
I have it hung on the underside of my porch roof so it is not directly exposed to the elements and I truthfully don't believe I would recommend it for locations where it'll get rained/snowed on.
If you need a driveway lighting unit, it works. Fantastic driveway lighting unit, works amazing outdoors. This small solar lamp post is extremely bright.
My only grievance is it does not come with sticky-back tape, only a nail hole. The sensor picks up motion well.
Purchased a couple of these for my gun safe. Mounting on top of door frame is hard with just the single mounting hole but works. They're in reduced traffic locations so no worries about changing batteries constantly.
Ok, now about the cost. I'd read all of the critiques of other movement sensor LED battery powered lights and was reluctant to purchase one of these products. One at first and then nine more simply because I've got a lot of dark areas in my home and rooms where the light switch is on the incorrect end of the space.
Highly recommended to purchase these solar patio lights if you are seeking something to light up the dark (like a basement) with motion. Otherwise, it's good. To date, works as marketed. It detects an oncoming individual from either path and illuminates the stairs very nicely. We now have them on a stair case. You will find three positions, OFF, ON for motion, and ON continuously. Too late to return it so I am tied to a prop on the wall. I should have purchased this a long time ago. Oddly, I saw this exact same deck post lighting unit, exactly, in 2 of those catalogues. Just added this to the bottom in our apartment's previously unsafe and dark stairway. The light is effective in outside places that you have no power to wire in a light. What I settled on was to screw a little metal plate to the underside of the cabinets, then use magnets to keep the lights. Yep, you need to remove it from the wall, and switch off the power switch.
Another one is effective. Works like a charm! walkway lights. The lack of the light sensor caused me to remove one of the 5 'stars' in the rating. This light is easy to install and ideal for places in which a lack of power makes the installing of a conventiional light not possible. FRONT PORCH FURNITURE.
