Filling in a garden pond and building a water feature?
I have a rather old garden pond with a stream through a rockery which is now leaking and looking rather tired. I want to dismantle the rockery, fill in the pond and create a new area with shingle and a bubbling water feature. BUT I know nothing at all about this sort of construction or the work involved in doing it.
Can anyone recommend a good book telling me how to design, plan and carry out this work please? Or a website - if such a thing exists. Any other advice would be very welcome.

I agree about reinvigorating the area, but PLEASE consider retaining what sounds like a potentially lovely pond. This year has been designated 'the year of the pond,' because so many ponds have been lost to agricultural cultivation and garden fashions for 'water features' in recent times. If you dismantle the rockery and empty the pond, you could then put in a new liner and replant the whole thing, then by the end of the summer all your wildlife would have returned and you'd have a lovely, living focus for the water in your garden, which would do a lot of good to the environment. Beats a boring old 'shingle area with water feature' any day!
