What is the best way to build an induction generator that is run off the power of my choosing (ie. wind turbin
I am interested to know if anybody here has successfully built an induction generator that can be powered by anything that can provide circular motion
I have looked into various ways of using rotation to generate AC electricity. I think I have some fairly good ideas as to how to provide the rotation, but I'm looking for the best solution as to turning that into Alternating Current.
An induction motor can be operated as a generator, but it requires something external to the motor to supply magnetizing current. One way to supply the magnetizing current is to connect a capacitor across the motor terminals. The capacitor needs to be sized to suit the motor and the load. The load must only be connected after the motor starts to generate voltage and must be removed before the motor is stopped. A battery may be needed to magnetize the motor before it is started.
For additional information, search “induction generator” and diy or “do it yourself” or something similar.
