Toloya Prius or Rav 4?
I would like some opinions please. My wife and I have narrowed the new car we want to buy down to two cars, both are from Toyota and both are very highly rated. One is the Prius and the other is the Rav4. Let me make it clear right here and now that my wife and I are not interested in making a political statement and I do not totally buy into how wonderful the Prius is going to be for our environment. For example: What are we going to do with all these thousands to millions of very environmentally unsafe huge dry cell batteries that will one day die that the Prius uses? Bury them, right? The green people never talk about that. What a wonderful thing for our great grandchildren to deal with. For us, we are tired of being slaves to the oil companies. The Rav4 gets good gas milage and the Prius gets great gas mileage. Opinions and experiences please.
Once you own a Prius, you will never go back. I always hated cars. Just a way to get from point A to point B. But since I got my Prius, one year ago, I just love that car. I can go almost 500 miles before filling up. This week I was getting over 60 mpg for a few days when it was really warm and I was on back roads a lot. It is a dream car. Every where I go it seems like I see more and more of them. The ride is so smooth. The stereo system's sound is much much better than any I have ever had. They really put quality into this car. There is a yahoo site for prius owners where they can give you all sorts of pointers for improving performance. Plus, you just push a button to start it. Mine is a 2003 (I bought used) and it looks and runs new. There is no car like it. This is from a car hating person. My dad and brother have rav's. They are ok, but not a prius!
