How long can a 12V Deep Cycle battery power a 800w, 120v, 60hz, 1 phase Hot dog steamer?
I have a hot dog cart and I need to power the hot dog steamer some how. If I put a 12V deep cycle battery in the cart and wired a ciggarrete lighter to it and plugged an inverter to it to plug the steamer into would the battery last for hours at a time? If this wont work how can I power the steamer? Please Help!
Thats impossible to answer considering we dont know the amp hour rating of the battery. That being said, considering your 800 watts, a 100 amp hour battery would only provide you with an hour and and 15 mins at best. The average battery rating is 40 amp hours, this reduces your time to 35 minutes. I.E. dont waste your time unless you have a bank of 10 batteries! Get a cheap generator. On the other hand, you could experiment with a hot dog heater that simply plugs one end of the hotdogs to negative and one end to positive! Like the old cheap home hotdog cookers. This way, all of the energy is being used to cook the dogs and not being wasted heating a coil. You take the hotdogs out, you shut down the current draw. VIOLA! The hot dog becomes its own heating element! You now have made the system considerably more viable. Try it, take a fully charged battery and see how long it takes to cook it by simply sticking a battery wire in each end.
I never cease to amaze myself! Maybe I should patent it
